On Friday I had a meeting with 20 parents who have children who are slow learners and those who have problems. The parents were very happy because their children were telling them how you played ball with them to check on their physical problems. Some parents have been calling me in order to know what you found. I explained what you discovered and I encouraged them that the children will be okay, that it is a matter of being patient with them and encourage them. They asked me to say thank you for the time you invested in their children without asking them for money. And I showed them the results you wrote, so they said thank you very much and that they wish you would come again to see how they are doing. Our meeting was for four hours and we shared much about these children.
May the Almighty God bless you so much.

"Praise God for this wonderful year." That's how Pastor Wilson started the most recent email. He went on to recount how the school was started in January 2005. They moved from a house to the church as more students came. In December 2008 the lot next to the church was vacant. In the past year the God is Good School has constructed two 3-room buildings, completed an 89-foot pit toilet, rebuilt the head teacher's house, and enclosed the end of the church building to provide another classroom. In one year they have gone from plywood partitions in the sanctuary, to seven classrooms for 175 students. Wilson said it well, "Praise God for this wonderful year." |

Dear Gap members, Thank you for your prayers and support. Right now the second building has the roof on and the windows and doors installed. The children are already using the building. The remaining work is plastering the walls and pouring the concrete floor. Then we will build the kitchen and benches and desks. Pastor Wilson |

Today we received a comprehensive summary of the progress in the past three months. Pastor Wilson has done a great job of managing the construction. Besides the construction of a building with three classrooms, each about 18-feet square, with a very small office attached to the end of the building, they have completed the pit toilet, moved the head teacher's house, and enclosed the end of the church building so they can use the room for the nursery school. That's a lot to accomplish in three months.
Wilson had a meeting with parents last week. The main topic of discussion was on how to help the children "be good citizens." He especially asked the parents to help the teachers know how to discipline "the orphans who are staying with their grandmothers" who are too old to keep up with energetic children. Wilson wrote, "It was a good meeting and we got the solution on how to handle them to be good citizens." One of the strengths of the God is Good School is the community involvement in the school operations. |

We just received a message from Pastor Wilson and several photos (below) of the God is Good School building that is under construction. Moses, a member of the congregation, is the construction foreman and is doing a good job. Notice how straight they built the back wall. This building will have three classrooms.
Pastor Wilson wrote, "Thank you for supporting God is Good Nursery and Primary School. For sure God has used you to help this school to have a building. The school that has been in the church for four years now has a building. I am sending some pictures of the work which we have done so you can know where your money has gone. Grace and I and the family are so happy. May God bless you." |
